A Look Behind

The men of earth mourn
Begging of lights dawn
The children of men sing
Singing their fathers lies

The years behind wore us down
Old demons haunt us now
Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq
Taunt of when peace did bow

Bankers ate their weight in gold
Vultures famished of gluttony
Made us despise elected kings

Monsters devoured ancient truth
Expressed truth as lie
That war makes peace with war
Or money's jewels born to adore

Across the sea
The war of donkeys' rage
Men caught in piety
Fighting eternal wars
Yet chained to death they lay

Still we believe
Every nation formed invincible
Our ideologies immortal
As anniversaries of chaos loom

Did you see the day
Immortal armies fell
Did you see the day
Came the angels of hell

Now we crave love to fix
To end our invention of death
But we've sold our love as sex
All wear a prostitutes' dress

Still You forget love is a man
With two holes in his hands
Who will redeem all things anew
By the peace of his land
